The National Intelligence Organization (MİT) continues to expand its cyber security operations. Coordinating with the Gendarmerie and the National Center for Cyber Incidents (USOM), MİT has identified the 5 individuals behind two software programs.
Specifically designed for lawyers, the administrator and developers of a software known as “Avatar” or “Adalet” have been detained, resulting in the arrest of 5 individuals.
Hacking Citizen Information via Lawyers
According to security sources, within the framework of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, it was determined that hundreds of lawyers were using a software called “Avatar” or “Adalet,” which allowed unlawful access to citizens’ personal data.
It was revealed that the software was misleadingly sold as being integrated with UYAP (National Judiciary Network Project), which enabled it to reach a wide user base.
MİT Caught Them Red-Handed
Based on the intelligence provided by MİT, a simultaneous operation carried out in Istanbul and Izmir resulted in the apprehension of 5 individuals, including the administrator and developers of the software.
All individuals were arrested by the court and sent to prison.
MASAK Investigating
As part of the operation, detailed examinations are ongoing to determine which lawyers have used this software.
The Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) has also been involved in the investigation, starting to scrutinize financial connections. The aim is to reveal the economic aspects of unlawful activities, identify illicit proceeds, and prevent them effectively.
